quantity and other questions
      #2914246 - 08/10/04 11:33 PM

I'm working on the first mod I plan on "publishing", but I've run into a problem. I want to make archers who spawn randomly, with a random bow and random arrows. This I can do easily, however, they only spawn with one arrow. This isn't enough. How do I make them spawn with say 50 arrows?

My second question, when making a mod should I make a version for just MW and one for its expansions. I've started this with expansions and it would take hours to go back through it to make it friendly to the original MW. I just want to make sure everybody who might want it can play it, becuase it's not just another house mod.

Anyway, I remembered another question I needed to ask: How do I set it so the NPCs will spawn with a random amount of gold?

Also, does anybody know where I can download a good tutorial for doing some scripting in MW? I have done virtually no scripting before, but it would really helpful if I had some assistance to start learning.

Finally, this mod is called "Random Occupants of Vvardenfall" (ROV). Look for it to be released at the Summit before the end of August. If it isn't then nag me about it Thanks in advance.

Edit: new question, has nothing to do with my mod. Would it be possible to make paranoia as a spell effect. By this I mean make it so when you use skooma or moon sugar, for a xcertain amount of time you would hear strange noises, NPCs might look like monsters, random spell effect animations would fly around like fire works, or the landscape could turn neon colors and stuff like that. That would be really interesting and make me feel more like I'm doing drugs I'd download that mod (or make it myself if I knew how)

Edit: Another new question: Is it possible to make an NPC spawn with a random face and hairstyle, instead of you picking it for him/her? Thanks again.

Try giving them "leveled item" l_m_wpn_missle_arrow
Should work fine, or a specific arrow and give them -50. (Minus 50)
Or a Combo of the above.

Very ambitious for a "First Mod". The more "Specifics" in the mod...the more "Expletives" in your Emails.

See the above "Leveled item" answer. Don't forget-you can make your own Random Item.

Morrowind Scripting for Dummies
(8th Edition) GhanBuriGhan...the God of MW scripting.

(Well...maybe not a God...but close.)

(When did you want to release that Mod?)

Yes, yes, yes, yes & yes.
PS: Yes.

Play with TES, read Morrowind Scripting for Dummies and Dialogue Tutorial by Srikandi.

Edit: Another new question:

I think I feel those "Spell effects" you wanted. They work!

Yes...and No. Should be done with a script. ;Disable and PlaceAtPC commands with a different ID'ed NPC you created is one way to do it. But "Random"...I don't know...and don't think so. But I may be wrong with that one.
Have fun storming the Castle.

Thank you VERY much. everything was extremely helpful. As for your questions, I'd like to have the mod I'm working on now, ROV, out by the end of this month, but I still have a ton of work to do (nearly 1000 NPCs! to create still yet). As for the goofy skooma mod, that one I'll get onto as soon as I can, but with school and the holidays coming up soon I can't promise that one could even look finished before New Years. I'll annouce it on the Forums when the mod comes out on the Summit. Once again, thanks a lot for the helpful answers You deserve two of those
